Job Summary

  • Manages staff of technical professionals, to assist company facilities with maintaining environmental compliance.

  • Develops and manages operating and capital budgets, to ensure cost-effective compliance with environment requirements, and to accomplish company business objectives.

  • Manages the development and preparation of correspondence, and technical reports, to submit to environmental agencies.

  • Manages staff in interpreting and assessing impact of proposed environmental legislations and regulations.

  • Manages process to obtain required environmental permits and approvals.

  • Works with advocacy groups to develop new regulatory and legislative requirements.

  • Identifies and champions process changes, to improve compliance, improve process efficiency, and control costs.

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences required for entry into this job include the following:

Significant, directly-related experience, typically 10 or more years; A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualification.

Advanced knowledge of the federal, state, and local environmental regulations specific to the media supported;

Strong team-building skills;

Strong communication and facilitation skills;

Excellent interpersonal skills, to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders;

Strong ability to manage projects;

Strong ability to select and manage environmental contractors and consultants for renewable energy projects;

Ability to manage staff, set workforce vision, and set expectations commensurate with the company's Environmental Policy Statement and organizational goals and strategies;

Ability to assign work appropriately, inspire, motivate, and guide others;

Ability to represent company in public and regulatory forums;

Ability to be resilient under pressure, to maintain focus, and to remain optimistic and persistent;

Ability to recover quickly from setbacks;
